I've decided to start a blog! I've never kept a blog before, but I think that doing so will help me organize my thoughts and, more importantly, develop my writing. Throughout high school and college, I have definitely sharpened my technical skills, but my communications skills (particularly writing) have fallen far behind. With time, I hope to see a marked improvement in my writing, with each blog post representing incremental progress.
Since I will be writing mainly for the sake of writing, my blog entries will touch on a broad range of topics. I might write technical posts about computer science, or compose a memoir about an enduring memory. I might document an amazing restaraunt I found, or complain about how my sister is acting like an annoying little lingling. There won't be just one focus for this blog.
If reading William Zinsser's "On Writing Well" has taught me just one thing, it's that good writing is a process – only through many iterations of editing and nitpicking will an essay turn out well. With that mantra in mind, I will ideally edit my posts over and over again before I publish them. This means that I might not post something for a long time, but hopefully then each blog post will not be painful to read.
Thanks for reading!
